Board of Directors

Dan Tarkinson:
Dan founded FFIM in 1995, initially as a college project, and for the lack of being able to find any information about fly fishing in his home state of Maine on the emerging "World Wide Web". Initially a limited set of static pages, FFIM has grown into a dynamic community of thounsands of anglers from across the globe, and a 501(c)(3) non-profit orgainzation that has raised tens of thousands of dollars to benefit Maine's fisheries through education and conservation. Dan has been fly fishing in Maine for over 15 years, and routinely spends time chasing both trout and salmon across the state in rivers and streams, as well as stripers and blues among the estuaries and flats closer to home in Casco Bay.

Tim Soule:
Tim Soule grew up hunting and fishing in and around the hills of Western Massachusetts. Tim has been the FFIM forum moderator, "keeping the peace", for several years now, and also maintains key contacts with area shops and guides. Tim puts together our annual FFIM calendar, organizes our Holiday Youth Essay contest, and helps with whatever else comes FFIM's way. Tim makes his home in Central Maine, where he teaches middle school. Tim has been fly fishing Maine since 2000, and can be found searching for trout and salmon across the state, tossing poppers for summer time largemouths, scanning the salt for busting stripers, headed West for big browns, rainbows and cutthroats or searching upstate New York for steelhead.

Ken Beaulieu:

Ken is FFIM's Event Director and chief fundraiser, planning and executing such activities as our annual Conclave, the annual Casting for Recovery Day Camp, and several raffle/auctions that are held semi-annually. He is passionate about FFIM's role in giving back to the Maine fly fishing community through our service projects and Grassroots Grant Program. He started flyfishing the small streams of the Berkshires like the Konkapot and the Buck but for the last 20 years has spent much of his time fishing Maine's fabled trout and salmon waters.

Shelby Rousseau:
As a "flatlander", Shelby learned to flyfish on the Farmington River under the skilled, watchful eyes of her mentor, her father. Educated and trained in wildlife/fisheries management, she has worked for various educational, federal and state organizations performing habitat assessments and studying migration and diurnal movement. She has worked 14 years as the Stewardship Director for Rangeley Lakes Heritage Trust, managing conservation lands such as the Lower Kennebago, Rapid River, South Bog Stream, Bemis and Cascades. She is a Registered Maine Guide, a Wilderness EMT-I and a Saddleback Ski Patroller. Some of her fondest memories are flyfishing with her family in Alaska, British Columbia, Alberta and Colorado.
