Maine Catch and Release Waters

The information provided here is a result of a review of the 2003 Maine Open Water Fishing Regulations as published by the Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife. FFIM cannot guarantee the accuracy of this information. Before heading to any water to fish, please take the time to look at the latest regulations on the MDIFW website.

The waters listed below, by county, are all waters that were found to have at least one section with a catch and release regulation for Salmon and/or Trout during the entire open season for this water. There are many additional waters that have limited catch and release seasons (e.g. August 16 - September 30), while allowing the taking of fish during the rest of the open season.
