The information provided here is a result of a review of the 2003 Maine Open Water Fishing Regulations as published by the Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife. FFIM cannot guarantee the accuracy of this information. Before heading to any water to fish, please take the time to look at the latest regulations on the MDIFW website.

The waters listed below, by county, are all waters that were found to have at least one section with a Fly Fishing Only (FFO) regulation (e.g. S-5).

Presumpscot River Standish, Windham, Gorham, Westbrook From the outlet dam at Sebago Lake downstream to tidewater: open to fishing from January 1 through December 31; From the outlet dam at Sebago Lake to confluence with North Gorham Pond: fly fishing only; daily limit on trout and salmon: 1 fish in the aggregate; closed to fishing is that area from the dam at the outlet of Sebago Lake downstream to designated red markers, approximately 100 feet. HANCOCK
Union River n/a S-5 from April 1 through September 30 between the Bangor Hydro dam in Ellsworth and the south side of the U.S. Route 1 bridge. Closed to all fishing is an area on west side of the river, marked by a red line on the spillway of the above named dam and extending diagonally downstream to a red marker on west shore; closed area includes powerhouse and adjacent fishway and trap.
Youngs Pond Otis S-5, S-19. Minimum length limit on brook trout: 14 inches. S-23.

Magalloway River, Big n/a S-5, S-13. North of the red posts on each shore by the Brown Company Landing, so-called: Total daily bag limit on salmon, trout and togue: 1 fish. All trout less than 8 inches and longer than 12 inches must be released alive at once. From August 16 - September 30 all salmon, trout and togue must be released alive at once. Tributaries to Big Magalloway River above Parmachenee Lake, including Moose Bog, S-5, S-11; minimum length limit on trout: 8 inches. From August 16 - September 30 all salmon, trout and togue must be released alive at once. From Bennett's Covered Bridge in Lincoln Plantation to red posts about 1/4 mile upstream: Persons under 16 years of age may fish under General Law limits.
Magalloway River, Little and tributaries, upstream of red posts just north of Sunday Pond and tributaries Parmachenee Township etc. S-5, S-13. Total daily bag limit on salmon, trout and togue: 1 fish. All trout less than 8 inches and longer than 12 inches must be released alive at once. From August 16 - September 30 all fish must be released alive at once.
Mosquito Pond Albany S-5, S-17; closed to the taking of live bait. From October 1 - October 31: S-5; all fish caught must be released alive at once.
Otter Pond Parmachenee Township S-5, S-17. From August 16 - September 30 all fish must be released alive at once.
Overset Pond Greenwood S-1, S-3, S-21, S-23. Fly casting and flying trolling only with single-hooked flies or tandem-hooked flies. Closed to taking of live bait.
Parmachenee Lake Lynchtown Twp, etc. Daily limit on salmon, trout and togue: 2 fish. Minimum length limit on trout: 10 inches; only one may be longer than 12 inches. Fly casting and fly trolling only.
Pond In The River and Rapid River Township C, Upton, etc. S-5, S-13, S-22. All trout must be released alive at once. From August 16 - September 30, all salmon must be released alive at once.
Richardson Ponds, East Adamstown Township S-5, S-23.
